How to Become a UX Designer

In 2019 I became interested in becoming a UX designer and went on an adventure of discovery to find out the best ways to learn how to become a UX designer. I was also interested in what were the best software tools expected in the industry and what UX design courses were out there. Finally I wanted to know how much salary I could realistically expect to earn as a UX designer.

So to save you all time and energy I will share my findings and help get you on your way. For the first post we will focus on where to get UX training.

To start off I spoke to UX Managers and asked them what they liked seeing on a resume.
Many said knowledge and expertise in programs like Sketch and Invision where expected
as well as many people skills. You may be surprised to hear that yes UX is not just tech it's user experience testing as well which requires people skills.

Another item on the list of what interviewers expect is UX and UI education, one school kept coming up as impressive with multiple hiring managers was General Assembly and so I spoke to the admissions department to get some details. A 10 week full time intensive book Camp will set you back over $14,950 but in 10 weeks you will have a new career and they do have financial aid and grants available for those who qualify. They also have online which is less expensive but you don't believe on those you get career placement or a portfolio.

There are many places to take classes online and some for free and soto get started and see if it's for you.

I would recommend starting with a free class at General Assembly they offer 2hour classes to see if it's for you. Many of these classes are free and then if your serious and want to continue they offer full bootcamps some online and some for 10 weeks. Many of these 2 hour classes are free and are really amazing I took several myself and the teachers were amazing.
